The Ingham County Sheriff's Office has a suspect in custody in connection to a home invasion Thursday morning.

It happened around 6 a.m. at a home in the 1700 block of Jeanne Street in Holt. Since the home is a couple blocks away from Holt Jr. High and Sycamore Elementary sheriff's deputies notified Holt Schools Superintendent David Hornak.

Hornak says that call came 15 minutes after buses started picking up Jr. High students. With the suspect still at large and possibly armed, Hornak says they didn't want students in jeopardy so he cancelled classes at the Jr. High and was waiting to determine if Sycamore Elementary would need to be canceled.

Shortly after police say they had the suspect in custody.

Classes will remain canceled at Holt Jr. High, but Sycamore Elementary will remain open.

Police have not released more details about the incident outside of saying it was a home invasion.
