The Jackson Police Department is investigating a homicide on the city's south side.
Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Mitchell Street for a reported shooting around 1:40 a.m Monday, Jackson police said.
Responding officers with the Jackson Police Department found a man lying in the street with apparent gunshot injuries. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Jackson police believe the man is a 25-year-old from Jackson, but he has not been positively identified at this time, police said.
There have been no arrests at this time.
