Police investigating attempted homicide

Police in Jackson are investigating an attempted homicide that left a man in critical condition.

The incident happened sometime before 12:30 a.m. Friday. Officers responded to several 911 calls of shots fired in the 100 block of West Mansion Street. Upon arrival, officers found a 19-year-old man that had been shot multiple times to his lower and upper torso. The victim was unresponsive and was taken to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Witnesses told police they heard and saw two people arguing before the shots were fired and saw the suspect get into a silver vehicle near the intersection of Kent and Mansion and take off.
