Police are looking for the man they say robbed a local convenience store at gunpoint in Jackson County over the weekend.

The robbery happened at Johnny's Convenience Store on Fifth Street in Leoni Township around 2:49 a.m. Sunday.

The Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety says once, inside the store, a man displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cash register.

An undisclosed amount of money was turned over to the suspect and he then fled the store on foot, last seen heading east.

No one was hurt in the robbery.

The suspect was described as approximately 6’2” tall, with a medium build.

The suspect was wearing a grey, hooded sweatshirt, with a grey coat, with reflective striping on it and a black face mask that only left the suspect’s eyes exposed.

A Blackman-Leoni K9 tracked the suspect east and then south on 7th Street, where the track was lost. Fresh tire tracks were found at the scene where the K9 track ended.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Blackman-Leoni Public Safety Detective Bureau at (517) 788-4223.
