People in a Lansing neighborhood are speaking out about the investigation into a woman's death.

FOX 47 News's Cryss Walker spoke with neighbors on the city's north side who say they are concerned about the details.

Residents on the 1500 block of Massachusetts Avenue told FOX 47 News they were surprised to see crime scene investigators on their street Friday afternoon.

“I hope they get to the bottom and figure out what happened because that's just really sad”, said Latosha Moran who just moved on the block last week.

Lansing Police say a 48-year-old woman was pronounced dead at a local hospital after she was found unresponsive in her home.

“I really feel bad because sometimes you're in the middle of the day, you got everybody gone and nobody hears when you need help”, Carolyn Mejia told Cryss Walker as she stopped while driving up the street.

Officers report that a 55-year-old man was also at the home when law enforcement officials arrived on scene.

Phil Lacy lives across the street from the victim.

He said he was disturbed to hear the news, especially because of the sounds that echoed from his neighbor's house.

“A lot of times you can hear them arguing across the street”, Lacy said.

Although the investigation has people talking, some residents say the tragedy has them lost for words.

“There's a lot of rumors going around the neighborhood right now and I don't think that that's real helpful. I think that just before we draw any conclusions we need to find out what really did happen”, Robin Laurain explained.

Police say the 55-year-old man was taken into custody as a person of interest but his relationship with the woman has not been released.

Police say they are still in the early stages of the investigation.

We'll let you know when there's an update.
