Police have identified the man killed in a crash over the weekend in Lansing.
Police say 23-year-old Joel Jackson was traveling at a high-rate of speed when he hit a utility pole on West Saint Joseph around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
Police say Jackson got off at the Martin Luther King exit from I-496, ran a red light and then hit the pole. The crash knocked out power for nearly 1,400 customers for about four hours.
No one else was in the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved.
The accident remains under investigation, but police say speed may have been a factor. Accident Investigators are working on finding out the events and action that lead up to the crash.
