Authorities have released the name of a driver who died after an Amtrak train slammed into a car in Grass Lake Township Wednesday.

Police say it appears 53-year-old Eric Foote of Ann Arbor, disregarded the warning signal at the crossing. He was the only person inside the car.

Witnesses say a loud warning signal and crossing arms were working at the time of the crash.

The Jackson County sheriff's department says no one aboard the westbound train was injured.
