LANSING, Mich. — The Lansing Police Department is investigating a crash that killed one person early Thursday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the area of West Oakland Avenue and Cleo Street for a single-vehicle accident on Thursday, July 31 at approximately 3:13 a.m.
Lansing police tell Fox 47 that the preliminary investigation suggests the driver of the car left the road, went airborne, and crashed into a tree.
The vehicle broke off into several pieces before coming to a rest in a driveway off Oakland Avenue.
A truck parked in a driveway was also damaged in the crash.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The crash forced emergency crews to block off the area of West Oakland Avenue and Cleo Street with barriers while investigators worked on the scene.
The driver's name will not be released until their next of kin can be notified.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
