A school in Jackson was on lockdown Monday because of an incident involving a gun.
Police got a call about a man with a gun near First Street and Franklin Street around 2:20 p.m. Monday afternoon.
As officers approached the man he took off, ditched the gun and ran into a vacant home. He was eventually arrested.
In addition to the loaded assault rifle, police say he also had a mask on him.
T.A. Wilson Academy was put on a brief lockdown while it all went down.
