The Ingham Co. Sheriff's department has added on a 2-year-old, male, black Lab, to work in narcotics.

The pup will be part of narcotics detection in the Corrections area of the department.

The Labrador Retriever is not yet named so the department is asking elementary age students to take part in a naming contest.

Students must be from the ICSD patrol area, which is, Dansville, Holt, Lansing Christian, Webberville and Alaiedon & North Aurelius in Mason.

Entries must be submitted by October 28.

The winning name will be announced on November 1. And the winning student will receive a pizza party for their class with special guests from the K9 team!

The new dog's handler is veteran Corrections Deputy, Troy Orweller, who has been with the Sheriff's Office for 19 years.

Sheriff Wriggelsworth says that together they will participate in narcotics detection & obedience training. And that the duo are anticipated to begin working together in December.
