LANSING, Mich. — More than 250 people decided to take the 'Polar Plunge' for a good cause Sunday.

Organizers say the event raised $84,000, which will go to the Area 8 Special Olympics.

Thirty-five 5th and 6th graders from Washington Woods Middle School in Holt joined in on the fun.

"This world is more than just about you. You need to leave a positive footprint in everything you do in your life and Special Olympics provides an awesome opportunity for that," said participant Jodie Grusbeck.
