A Costco store in Mid-Michigan is one step closer to reality.
The Meridian Township board unanimously approved an amendment that allows the city of East Lansing to re-zone 65-acre site on Saginaw Street and Park Lake Road.
Township officials say they would like to have the $4 million Costco store open by the fall of 2017.
The city of East Lansing and the planning commission also have to approve the rezoning before moving forward.
Costco is proposing a 154,000 square foot warehouse, a tire shop, and a gas station at the site.
