JACKSON, Mich. — A resolution to offer payment assistance to federal workers affected by partial federal government shutdown has failed. Members of Jackson City Council voted down the resolution at a meeting Tuesday night.
The resolution [wilx.com] would have allowed federal workers living in Jackson who have been furloughed or working without pay due to the government shutdown to defer payments owed to the city for things like water bills.
The council said during Tuesday night's meeting that anyone facing hardship can still appeal to the city to defer payments.
