Posted

Phone scams don’t seem to go away, and another one is making its rounds throughout Ingham County.

The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office reports its has received several complaints from residents about a scam saying that they missed jury duty, and need to make an immediate payment to avoid arrest or having a warrant executed.

The scammers are requesting for credit card numbers, money transfers or Green Dot cards as payments.

The sheriff’s office wants to remind residents that the office does not call people with warrants for their arrest, or request money to avoid arrest.

The department says residents should not send money when requested by phone to persons they do not know, or have accounts with.

Also, the sheriff’s office says scammers have the ability to use an app to disguise their phone numbers and identity in order to perpetrate these types of scams.
