The pharmacist accused of denying a woman medication that would help her recover from a miscarriage is no longer employed at Meijer.

In a statement to FOX 47, the company says the pharmacist "has not been employed by Meijer" since July.

That's when an Ionia woman says she brought a prescription to the store in Petoskey and the pharmacist on duty refused to fill it, citing his religious beliefs.

"I don't wish ill intent on anyone, but I feel that he needs to know that his actions do have repercussions and effect," the woman said.

The ACLU says the pharmacist broke the state's public accommodations laws.
