The FOX 47 Weather Team is warning us of 90-100 degree temperatures on Friday and Saturday.
This is hot for a normal person, but what about a four-legged cat or dog...the answer is yes, it's hot for them too.
Ingham Co. Animal Control says, "Like people, pets are subject to heat stress and heat stroke. During warm weather pets should always have access to clean, fresh water."
If your pet is an outdoors one, they need shaded areas to cool off. You should also monitor them throughout the day to make sure they aren't lethargic or experiencing excessive panting. Panting is a way for dogs to cool off, but excessive panting is a sign of distress.
And remember, even with a window cracked, in these temperatures pets in cars do not mix. "Even if you are planning to be away from your car for a short time, do not leave pets unattended; an unexpected delay in your schedule could endanger your pet."
