The garbage is piling up on the 3000 block of East Michigan Avenue near the city of Jackson and Blackman Township border.
Junk is scattered in a parking lot where a Super K-Mart once stood.
People who live nearby say it’s an on-going issue and they're tired of it.
“You don't have to go to K-Mart to dump your trash”, said Kelly Covington who lives at an apartment complex nearby.
“You can just go right to the garbage disposal and dump it there.”
Marla Mock- Zentgraf lives a few blocks away from the old K-Mart building.
She says dumping is a common practice there. “K-mart parking lot, behind Krogers, they're both empty buildings now but even before they were empty, behind Krogers it’s really bad”, Mock- Zentgraf explained.
“I've actually walked my dog and found needles.”
Parents in the neighborhood say they are concerned for their children and what they could possibly find in the rubbish.
“If you had kids and you stayed around that area, I don't think you would want them to play with your trash or the things that you had left behind”, said Jackson resident Matthew Grinhe.
Inside the trash there was an address on a box.
FOX 47’s Cryss Walker tracked down the location, knocked on the door, but was told the person of interest was not home.
FOX 47 also reached out to the Blackman Township Public Safety Office.
They said a complaint was made about the dumping and the problem will be addressed Wednesday morning.
According to the Blackman Charter Township website, illegal dumping is a misdemeanor that can carry up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine.
