LANSING, Mich. — The Lansing Police Department says reports of shootings in the Lansing-area in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 6 are false.
Numerous reports of shootings were circulating on social media and had been shared thousands of times Tuesday morning.
The reports come after a teenager was killed in a shooting on Monday, Aug 5. in the 500 block of Pine Street.
Lansing police tell Fox 47 that officers investigated all shots fired complaints that were called in during the early morning hours on Tuesday.
Those officers were unable to locate anything at the scenes they were called to, police said.
Lansing police tell Fox 47 the reports of the additional shootings being spread on additional shootings on social media are rumors and have not been confirmed at this time.
