A local pastor is being remembered for his service to the community and his work in the church.
Pastor Timothy Olson died Wednesday morning in a rollover accident in Charlotte.
FOX 47's Cryss Walker spoke with members of his church grieving the loss.
“I’ve loved that man like a son, it just hit and hurt real hard”, said Deacon Mark Gawura.
Ministers from First Lutheran Church says Pastor Timothy Olsen was a family man, a husband, a father and a twin and so much more.
“To speak of Tim Olson as a person, I could not separate the fact that he loves God and he loves people”, said Minister Daniel Longden.
Pastor Olson was killed in a two-vehicle rollover accident at the corner of Island Highway and Stewart Road in Charlotte.
“It was crushing, I can't think of a better word”, said Gawura.
Olson served as pastor at First Lutheran Church for 18 years.
Deacon Gawura and Minister Longden say Pastor Olsen touched the lives of many, not only through his church but also as chaplain at Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital.
“He modeled what it means to be a friend and a servant and somebody who shows compassion in a way that is genuine”, said Minister Longden.
Pastor Olson's loved ones say although he won't be here to walk his daughter down the aisle when she gets married this summer or watch his son walk across the stage Friday as Charlotte High School's valedictorian, they say they find comfort in knowing his spirit and memories will live on forever.
“Tim received the crown of life now”, said Deacon Gawura.
Pastor Olson's viewing will be held Monday from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Burkhead-Green- Kilgo Funeral Home.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Charlotte.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash suffered minor injuries.
