Today is Fat Tuesday so bakeries all over the state are making paczki for the last day before lent. For those who don't know, a paczki is basically a jelly doughnut.
Jeff Schook, the COO of Quality Dairy says this is the biggest day of the year. They start making the paczki on February 17th. The most popular flavors are raspberry, cream cheese, and custard.
Many will consume the pre-Lenten treat designed around cleaning out the cupboard before lent. The paczki is a Polish tradition, and the recipe comes from hamtramck.
