An online petition is urging people to sign up to make Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton president on December 19.

A petition titled "Electoral College: Make Hillary Clinton President on December 19" was posted to the Change.org website by Elijah Berg after Clinton lost the electoral college vote on Election Day.

The petition says President-Elect Donald Trump is unfit to serve, and that Hillary Clinton should be the next president of the United States.

The petition is trying to drum up support for the Electors of the Electoral College to cast their ballots for Clinton, instead of Donald Trump. Donald Trump currently has 290 electoral votes, to Clinton's 228. The popular vote is still being counted, with Clinton leading Trump by nearly 400,000 votes; Clinton currently has 60,467,245 votes while Trump has 60,071,650 votes.

Some states do not allow this process, referred to as "faithless electors" and charge a fine for members who do not cast a ballot in accordance with their state's results.

The petition has over 2.4 million signatures with a goal of 3 million signatures.
