Orange barrel alerts as road construction season kicks off in Michigan.
- Kalamazoo Street between Cedar and Larch will be closed starting Monday. Crews will be widening the road to add bicycle lanes. Detours will be posted but it might be better to find a different route if possible. The work is expected to be done by the first week of May.
- The westbound lane on East Sheridan Road will also be closed at the intersection of North East Street and East Sheridan. That's just north of Old Town. The Lansing Board of Water and Light will be doing water main work there. The work is expected to be done by Friday.
- And construction at the Okemos and Jolly Roads intersection.
M-DOT is replacing a storm drain under West Jolly. It's also putting in a new traffic signal at the westbound I-96 ramp at Okemos road. Traffic is down to one lane in each direction. The work is expected to be done by Labor Day.
