One dead, two injured following fight at Jackson County field party

GRASS LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WSYM) - Jackson County Sheriff deputies have opened a homicide investigation after a fight broke out during a field party.

Deputies were called to a field in the 4000 block of Fishville Road in Grass Lake Township at 3:27 a.m.

While deputies were on scene, three victims were brought to Henry Ford Allegiance with a variation of injuries.

An 18-year-old man from Jackson died at the hospital, two others are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies tell FOX 47 News more than 100 people were at the field party.

Details regarding a suspect were not immediately available.

According to an event page, a "Big Michigan Project X Party" was scheduled for June 16 at 4649 Fishville Road in Grass Lake. The party was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. A Facebook page for the event has since been deleted.

Detectives with the investigation say the homeowner rented out the property for $500. The homeowner declined an interview with FOX 47 News.

Michigan State Police and Blackman Leoni Township Department of Public Safety are working on the investigation.
