VERMONTVILLE, Mich. (WSYM) - One person is dead after two vehicles collide in Eaton County Saturday morning.
Eaton County Sheriff Deputies were called to the intersection of M-79 and Ionia Road just after 10 a.m.
A preliminary investigation reveals an 87-year-old woman from Charlotte was heading southbound when she failed to yield or stop and was hit by a Ford Explorer driving westbound on M-79.
The 87-year-old woman from Charlotte was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three people were inside the Ford Explorer driven by an 80-year-old man from California.
The driver and front seat passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A person in the backseat was treated on scene and released.
That intersection was closed down for around five hours while crews worked to clean up the crash.
The Eaton County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate.
