OLIVET, Mich. — The Olivet College Wind Ensemble will perform on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Hastings Performing Arts Center, 232 W. Grand Street Hastings, Michigan. There is no cost to attend.

The concert is in partnership with the Thornapple Wind Band (TWB), a community band made up of community members from Barry County, which promotes the performance and teaching of wind band music to all. This performance will mark the sixth collaborative concert. The TWB's conductor, David Macqueen, is an alumnus of Olivet College's class of 1976.

“We are always eager to perform with other ensembles, especially ones of the caliber of the TWB,” said Jeremy Duby, director of bands. “This performance is especially meaningful as we get to perform with an alumnus of our program. Dave is a legacy, and is invaluable to us all year round. It is great for our students to perform with and learn from one of their own. The combined performance encore is always a treat and a unique way for us to bridge generations through music.”

The arts play a vital role in fostering creativity and learning at Olivet College by promoting personal growth, self-expression, appreciation and Individual and Social Responsibility. Annually, the College features artists, exhibitions and performances that reflect the diversity of the arts.
