LANSING, Mich. — Olivet College was recently ranked second in Best’s Review survey of leading college insurance and risk management programs. More than 330 industry professionals participated in this year’s poll.

Tom Humphreys, CPCU, CLU, ChFC, CIC, Olivet College assistant professor of insurance and risk management and director of the program, said, “We are very honored to be recognized by Best’s Review as an institution that stands out in the discipline of risk management and insurance. As the smallest school by enrollment in the ranking, the ability for faculty to work with our students in small class sizes, and many times one-on-one, really sets our students up to gain knowledge and experience that larger schools can’t provide.”

Testimonials about Olivet College’s program and students included, “Their program is outstanding. When they come in, they understand the different lines of coverage and the many opportunities in the insurance business. We have found students from Olivet able and wanting to learn what [our company] has to offer,” and, “Students come out with not only foundational insurance knowledge, but they also have a passion for the industry. They get to the WHY of why insurance is important.”

The list is comprised of 20 colleges nationwide. Olivet College is the smallest school by enrollment in the ranking, earning more votes than a number of Division I universities and programs. Sixty-five percent of the College’s votes came from in-state respondents, noting strong regional support.

Best’s Review is the insurance industry’s premier monthly news magazine, delivering coverage of topics such as agent/broker, life, property/casualty, reinsurance/capital markets, technology and more.
