LANSING, Mich. — A physical therapist in Okemos has been accused of sexually assaulting a patient.

The owner of Okemos Therapy Services, Ajay Barghava, was charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in Ingham County.
Court records state that the assault was said to have occurred on June 29.

Barghava's attorney, Brian Morley, confirmed to News 10 that the owner disputes the allegations.

"Nothing improper or inappropriate happened during the course of medical treatment," Morley said.

Morley also said Barghava disputes the allegations and says nothing improper or inappropriate happened during the course of medical treatment.

The fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct charge is the lesser of the two unwanted sexual touching charges, which is punishable by up to two years in prison or a $500 fine as a high-court misdemeanor.

Barghava has no disciplinary record or formal complaints that are listed at the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, and his physical therapy license was issued back in 1994 and is valid through 2021.

Barghava is expected in court on Thursday, October 10.
