LANSING, Mich. — While most people are away from the office and celebrating with their families on Labor Day, people like first responders don't always get that luxury.
That's why the staff at the Olive Garden in Okemos gave Meridian Township first responders a free meal.
"They don't have the luxury to be at home away from work so if we can feed them, take care of them, give them a full belly, that's something I'm very happy to do," Mitchell, a manager at the Olive Garden in Okemos said.
"It's just great and we really appreciate it. Obviously not necessary but it's always appreciated," Erik Sellen, with the Meridian Township Fire Department said.
This is the 18th year in a row that Olive Garden has done this on a national level as a way to give back to first responders.
All of their 850 locations participated this year.
