The Capital Area Humane Society and Eaton County Animal Control believe they know who's responsible for hurting a dog.

A young female pitbull was found Tuesday near Strange Highway and M100 just south of Grand Ledge. CAHS has named the dog Zuri.

CAHS posted a video update on Facebook. They say the suspect is in custody. That person is in custody for other charges.

Zuri will remain in the humane society's care while they focus on getting her healthy and Eaton County investigates the case. They're hoping she'll be available for adoption very soon.

Zuri appears to have been recently nursing puppies. CAHS believes the puppies weren't in the home by the time she came to them, and are not concerned.
