JACKSON, Mich. — On Monday, two officers were injured at the Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center in Jackson.

A prisoner at the center punched one of the officers. Another officer that was trying to break up the fight, was also injured.

As of Tuesday, all officers were in stable condition.

It happened around 9:30 a.m. when an officer that was addressing some bad behavior by a prisoner with the prisoner, got punched in his jaw.

Then the prisoner pushed an officer into a filing cabinet.

That's when other officers stepped in to restrain the prisoner.

After the incident, the officers were taken to the hospital and the prisoner was evaluated by a nurse before being transferred to another facility.

The RGC is a facility where prisoners are processed with limited movement.

Spokesman Chris Gautz said it is "fairly rare for an officer to be sent to the hospital."
