Officers placed on Administrative Leave While Police Investigate Incident

LANSING, Mich. — As a follow up to the information shared during the press conference on Friday, June 14th, the Lansing Police Department has had the opportunity to review body worn camera video and obtain additional facts of the case.

On Saturday, June 15th, Lansing Police Chief Mike Yankowski placed Officers Lindsey Howley, a 1-year department employee, and Bailey Ueberroth, a 6 month department employee, on administrative leave while an Internal Affairs investigation is conducted regarding their actions during the arrest of a 16 year old juvenile on June14th.

Staying true to the department’s commitment to transparency and police legitimacy, Chief Yankowski is releasing the body worn camera video of the entire police interaction. Please note that the redaction in the video is done to protect and safeguard the identity and rights of the juveniles involved in this incident.

“Allegations or complaints against Department employees are taken seriously and thoroughly investigated. The Lansing Police Department holds its employees to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity,” stated Chief Mike Yankowski.

The Lansing Police Department Internal Affairs division will be investigating this matter. If the allegations are found to be true, department penalties may range from a counseling statement to termination, per the Department’s policies and procedure.
