Officer-involved shooting latest information

Posted

We're expecting to learn more information about an Easter Sunday officer-involved shooting in Jackson that left a man dead and two people, including a police officer, hurt.

It all started when police got a call about a domestic assault at a home on the 900 block of Chittock Avenue around 1:30 Sunday afternoon.

As soon as officers arrived on scene, a man walked out of the house and opened fire on police.

Three officers from the Jackson Police Department returned fire and killed the man.

One of the officers who responded to the initial call was shot in the leg by the suspect. He's currently in the hospital following surgery but police say his injuries are non-life threatening.

A woman was also hurt.

Lt. Andy Stoner from the Michigan State Police said, "There was an injury, the female was injured before officers arrived. She is at the hospital for non life threatening injuries."

Police haven't said what exactly happened to the woman before officers arrived. They also haven't released the name of the suspect or the officers involved.
