Nurse-in planned at the Capitol

LANSING, Mich (WSYM)-- Mothers are looking to the state to require businesses to provide pumping time and accommodations in the workplace for nursing mothers.

"It's stressful enough being a working mom," Bridget Burns-King.

These moms all work, and they all breastfeed.

They say it's hard to be working as a nursing mother especially since Michigan doesn't have a law guaranteeing them the right to feed or pump milk in the workplace.

"We just want to make sure that whatever the future healthcare reform looks like does include the breastfeeding provisions that are currently in the ACA. And one day will include all working moms because right now, it does exclude any moms that do receive a salary," Natosha Sage-El with Willow Tree Family said.

Legislature passed a law in 2014 to allow breastfeeding in public.

These moms say it's time for employers to play by the same rules.
