MDOT is closing a section of northbound US-23 in Washtenaw/Livingston County after a truck damaged a bridge this morning.
The semi severely damaged the 8 Mile Road overpass as the result of a high load hit. MDOT says the structure will need to be demolished before northbound US-23 can safely reopen.
MDOT is currently in the process of implementing an emergency contract to have that bridge removed.
It is unclear at this time when northbound US-23 will reopen. Alternate routes are strongly encouraged while northbound US-23 is closed.
