Noodles & Company celebrates National Zucchini Day with free zoodles

In honor of National Zucchini Day on Wednesday, August 8, Noodles & Company [noodles.com] (NASDAQ:NDLS), today announced that guests can enjoy the restaurant’s Zoodles, hand-spiralized zucchini, for free in any dish on their menu. The celebration of all things zucchini will also shine a spotlight on Noodles & Company’s latest featured dishes—Zucchini Pesto with Grilled Chicken and Zucchini Romesco. Free Zoodles are available at both Lansing area Noodles restaurants, located on East Grand River and West Grand River in Okemos on August 8.

Zoodles debuted in May of this year when Noodles & Company became the first fast-casual restaurant to add the more health-conscious zucchini noodles to its menu of classic noodle and pasta dishes inspired by flavors from around the world. Every day, each local Noodles & Company location hand-spiralizes an average of 16 pounds of zucchini. The restaurant chain has already served more than 500,000 pounds of zoodles nationwide since May.

Zoodles are packed with vitamin C and potassium and meet a variety of dietary needs and preferences including gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan. Additionally, a regular portion of zucchini noodles has 90 percent fewer calories and carbs than a regular portion of elbow noodles.

The new featured dishes rolling out on Wednesday, August 8, include:

• Zucchini Pesto with Grilled Chicken: Zucchini noodles with basil pesto and garlic, cream, grilled chicken, mushrooms, tomato and Parmesan.
• Zucchini Romesco: Sweet and tangy, with an almond-roasted red pepper sauce, cream, sundried tomato, garden vegetables and feta.
