LANSING, Mich. (WSYM) - "Help starts here on the streets, Michael Karl told me he missed that one on one interaction with people experiencing homelessness."
"I want to hug people, I want to help people, I want to get them from point A to point B, and build that relationship, thats what get people off the streets."
His previous non-profit "Homeless Angels" was getting too administrative, and his mission was getting lost in the paper work.
"I'm a hands-on person I like to be in the trenches, and I needed to get back there, my heart was pulling me back."
He says the paperwork is needed.
But getting back to the streets will make a bigger impact, giving hands on experience that will help people who have been living on the streets for years.
"Sometimes when you get to the top of your mountain you have to turn around and you have to come back., and that's what I'm doing right now"
Michael Johns had been homeless for 23 years before he gained his own housing --through the help of Karl.
He believes in his vision.
"I follow in Mike Karl's core beliefs, that if you can help one person, you can help everybody."
Today Mike Karl will kicked off his new non-profit with a walk, bringing the community to the streets.
"With love and community support, Cardboard prohpets hopes to end homelessness one person at a time."
