No charges for former Eaton County RESA superintendent

CHARLOTTE, Mich. (WSYM) - Former Eaton County RESA superintendent Christine Beardsley will not face criminal charges. Prosecutor Doug Lloyd made the announcement Monday following a State Police investigation.

The RESA board placed Beardsley on administrative leave in April of 2015 after finding financial irregularities. Beardsley resigned in July of that year. The State Police investigation began four months later.

The investigation focused on allegations that Beardsley was illegally overpaid, that she was illegally paid out for unused vacation time and that she misused RESA credit cards. Lloyd says "All complaints made to MSP were reviewed and either determined to be potential bad business practice or bad management, or that the matters had been approved by the RESA Board at that time." He says there is no evidence of criminal activity and that it's up to the board to fix the accounting and bookkeeping issues.
