Michigan will have new voting machines installed for the next statewide election in August of 2018.

The state has approved 10-year contracts with three companies to provide optical-scan machines.

Each of the 83 county clerks in Michigan will choose from one of those three.

Several clerks including Ingham County's Barb Byrum have told us their machines are in bad shape and need to be replaced.
