EASTON COUNTY, Mich. — New technology meant to keep you safer launched in Eaton County Thursday morning.
The Next Generation 911 system began taking calls.
The old system was built in the 1960s.
The new system is better adapted to a modern wireless and mobile environment as opposed to landlines.
One of the biggest improvements for people is that the new system will have shorter 911 connection wait times.
A text-to-911 service is being worked on next.
