New studies find lung cancer breakthroughs

WSYM - Two studies have found what appears to be a major breakthrough in the fight against lung cancer.

One shows combining chemotherapy with the immunotherapy drug Keytruda doubled the survival rate for patients with the most common form of the disease.

The other shows patients who were given Opdivo were more likely to be cancer-free after a year.

Immunotherapy drugs get the immune system to attack tumors.

They are extremely expensive right now.
