Scott Wriggelsworth is new to the Ingham County Sheriff Department, but carries a last name that is all too familiar.
"My dad hired everyone here, " Wriggelsworth said. " They only knew Gene Wriggelsworth who served as Sheriff for 28 years."
Not everyone in the department knows Scott Wriggelsworth, but that will soon change.
"A lot of the people here don't know me, but the apple doesn't fall far from the tree," he said.
Wriggelsworth says he has big plans .
He will start with integrating a behavioral assessment unit to assist people with mental health and addiction issues.
The next mission he says is to handle the destruction of evidence by a sewage leak at the jail.
"Clearly it wasn't handled properly because it's a mess," he said.
" I promise the residents of Ingham County that we will fix this," says Wriggelsworth . " This will not happen again."
