New law removes political symbols from ballot

Posted

LANSING, Mich. (WSYM) - Your ballot at the voting booth will probably look different in November.

On Friday, Governor Rick Snyder signed a law to remove the symbols representing each political party.

They've appeared on the state's ballots since the 1890's to help voters that can't read.

But now, with new voting equipment, those voters can have the ballot read to them using headphones.
