New community police officer to patrol streets of Old Town

LANSING, Mich. — Lansing's Old Town will be getting a new, community police officer.

Lansing Police Department Officer Joseph Bacigal, who's known as Zeke, will be patrolling the streets of Old Town.

His new beat will cover Old Town and Walnut Neighborhoods north of downtown Lansing.

Mayor Andy Schor said this addition will be great for the area.

"Proactive policing is an incredible, was an incredible, way to engage the community. It's not just reactive, it's proactive and improving relationships. I'm really excited this is coming together the way we expected," Mayor Schor said.

Mayor Schor said this additional community police officer position was planned for in the city budget.

Officer Bacigal said he's very familiar with the area and excited to get patrolling.
