LANSING, Mich. — The new beach in downtown Lansing is taking shape.
The sandy grand river hang out spot is a part of a 1-point-8 million dollar project called rotary park.
The sand has been installed in an area in front of the former city market.
While it's called a beach, this area of the park isn't conducive to swimming or wading.
Sand installed in the beach won't touch the river and will be surrounded by a seawall so people can't enter the river.
The free attraction is expected to open to the public by the end of the month.
