Demonstrators are expected to gather in downtown Lansing today in an effort to protect water from the Great Lakes.
An organization named "Clean Water Action" is calling on the Department of Environmental Quality to deny a permit from Nestle that would increase the company's water-take by more than 150 percent.
That water would be coming from the Great Lakes. Organizers said they want to protect the lakes from losing millions of gallons of water.
The group plans to deliver more than 5,000 hand-written comments to the DEQ. The protest is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, March 3rd at the DEQ headquarters on Allegan Street.
