DELHI TWP, Mich. — A local couple is recovering emotionally after being robbed at gunpoint on their own property.

Police were called to a neighborhood in Delhi Township for reports of an armed robbery at around 4:45 Tuesday. People who live in the neighborhood and on the street say this is completely out of the ordinary.

"I was really shocked....especially an armed robbery. I mean how could that happen? Especially in midday, in this area? I guess it doesn't make sense," Mark Greene said.

"There's never been any type of crime or...I mean some lawn ornaments or something can come up missing but nothing crazy. No robberies at gunpoint or anything," Danielle Graham said.

That is until Tuesday night. Police say a white man aged 18-20 approached a couple in their garage on Fontaine Trail, pulled out a gun, and got away with cash. Neighbors say they're unnerved by it.

"Well when we first heard the story it was like really nerve-wracking, we were all really scared. And so we really didn't want to stay outside," Arriana Graham said.

Some of them plan to buy more security cameras for their home and hope this is a one-time thing.

"My wife's nervous, and she's from Detroit so she's used to the ruckus. But I usually leave my doors open and don't sweat it...but I do now," Greene said.

"I hope this was just random, I don't really know the whole story but I hope nothing like this ever happens again because usually we feel pretty safe here," Danielle Graham added.

Police added that that the man also ran away from the scene, so they are asking anyone with security footage in the area to give them a call.

The robber was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt and a baseball hat. contact the Ingham County Sheriff's office at (517) 676-8251 if you have any information.
