DELTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — People who live in a quiet Delta Township community say they're shocked to hear about a suspicious death investigation.

Thursday afternoon investigators from the Michigan State Police K-9 Unit were seen canvassing the area and going through the brush and the grass.

Neighbors say the investigation led to a road closure that lasted for hours.

The morning commute down Old Lansing at Lansing Road was slow for drivers after Eaton County Sheriff's deputies blocked the intersection when they discovered a gruesome find.

“An officer came in around noon wanting to know if any of our cameras that we have here on sight were pointing to that direction”, said Don Chidnester from Walker Truck and Trailer Service.

“Unfortunately ours don't so we couldn't help them very much.”

Chidnester told Cryss Walker a large police presence remained at the intersection early Thursday morning well into the afternoon.

The Eaton County Sheriff's Office confirms that a body was found, calling the death suspicious but didn't release any further details.

“There was a coroner's van over there for quite some time. There was an ambulance and a fire truck that showed up probably just before 8:00 a.m.”, Chidnester said.
