Neighbors on edge after two shootings in three weeks

Neighbors on edge after Thursday night's shooting on Brynford Avenue.

"I've never seen that many police out and that kind of force before,” Curtis Hargrove said. “With their weapons drawn. And they were checking backyards, they were frisking people."

“I saw all the cops walk down my driveway, they had rifles drawn,” Kelly Boyer said. “It was just really scary."

Less than three weeks ago a man was shot and killed in this apartment on Rosemary. It’s just a couple streets over from Brynford. Now neighbors say, they don't feel safe.

"If it's happening this close to home, it could be next door next time,” Boyer said. “It's just kind of scary."

"What's going on?” Jerri Smith said. “I mean why all of the sudden are we having shootings in this neighborhood because it's always been a quiet, peaceful neighborhood."

"Something just doesn't feel right,” Done Masseau said. "It used to be a good neighborhood."

They say they're worried about the safety of the kids in the neighborhood as well-- there are a lot of them-- Hargrove has a baby at home:

"With an 8 month old, I check the house, locked the doors, lock the windows,” Hargrove said.

Neighbors were happy with Lansing Township police's response time to the shooting on Brynford, but some would like to see more police patrols to help them feel safe.

"That would be a great step I think, for the neighborhood to realize 'they're patrolling a bit more now' and I think that's what we need," Masseau said.

Because right now, suspects from both shootings are on the loose... And neighbors want closure.

"How do you know who did it and if they're still around here and if they're gonna keep doing things like this," Smith said.

"I just hope they catch him so it doesn't happen anymore," Boyer said.

So this once peaceful neighborhood, can go back to normal.
