Neediest city in U.S. right here in Michigan

Posted

With the season of giving in full swing, we are reminded that tens of millions of our fellow Americans are suffering from poverty, homelessness and hunger, and according to a new study conducted by WalletHub, the city with the most need is right here in Michigan.

Detroit was ranked the number one neediest city in the study - which compared the more than 180 U.S. cities based on 25 key indicators of economic disadvantage, such as child poverty, food insecurity and uninsured rates.

The city ranked number one both for both economic well being and health and safety rank, meaning they have the most need in both categories.

The study also compared the highest and lowest adult and child poverty rates and Detroit had the highest rates for both.
