Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley, signed legislation into law that was inspired by the Larry Nassar scandal.
Several Nassar survivors were there as Calley signed senate bills 871 and 872.
The bills extend the statute of limitations for criminal and civil sexual abuse cases involving minors, giving victims more time to come forward.
Survivor Rachael Denhollander calls the legislation a good first step in providing justice for sexual assault victims.
Denhollander says she will continue to fight for legislation aimed at preventing sexual assault.
